OREANDA-NEWS. Over the past day, 27,550 cases of COVID-19 were detected in Russia - this is the maximum increase since the beginning of the year, it follows from the data of the operational headquarters.

The last time the indicator rose above 27 thousand was on January 1 - then 27,039 cases were registered, and on December 31, 2020 there were 27,747 of them.

The day before, 25,133 infected were reported. The growth rate increased from 0.33 to 0.36 percent. 924 people died, 20 330 were discharged after treatment.

New cases were detected in all 85 regions, most of them in Moscow - 5404 (the day before it was 3589), St. Petersburg - 2418, Moscow region - 1454, Samara region - 644, Nizhny Novgorod - 621, Voronezh - 604, Bashkiria - 578, Sverdlovsk region - 539, Perm region - 527, Rostov region - 515.

The least number of cases is in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug - 16, in Chukotka there are 17, and in the Magadan Region - 22.

In general, during the pandemic in Russia, 7,690,110 people were infected with the coronavirus, 213,549 of them died, 6,799,230 were cured.

Worldwide, according to the latest WHO data, there are 235.6 million infected, and according to estimates by Johns Hopkins University, their number has already exceeded 236.5 million; more than 4.8 million patients could not be saved. The most difficult situation is in the USA, India, Brazil and Great Britain. Russia ranks fifth in this list.

Vaccination remains the most reliable way to protect against coronavirus. According to the head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko, the percentage of vaccinated among seriously ill COVID-19 is less than 0.03 percent, while the vast majority of patients in hospitals are unvaccinated. At the end of September, the WHO announced the connection of mortality from SARS-CoV-2 with the refusal of preventive immunization. This was also indicated in Rospotrebnadzor: according to the head of the department, Anna Popova, there are almost no vaccinated among the dead.
