OREANDA-NEWS. EU Energy Ministers, Maroš Šefčovič, European Commission Vice-President for Energy Union, and Miguel Arias Cañete, Commissioner for Energy and Climate Action, are meeting at the EU Energy Council in Brussels.

The Vice-President and Commissioner are presenting the ‘Clean Energy for All Europeans’ package unveiled on 30 November. This will be followed by a debate on security of gas supplies.

Vice-President Šefčovič said: "With eight pieces of legislation this was the largest package of energy proposals ever. The proposal aspires to score a hat-trick on the three goals of achieving global leadership in renewables, putting energy efficiency first and giving a fair deal to consumers. With this we are fulfilling one of the 10 political priorities of the Juncker Commission. The clean energy transition is here to stay and now we are ready to update our energy markets and systems to enable us to decarbonise, trigger growth, investment and jobs in sustainable solutions."
