Rapper RZA composing album inspired by vintage Atari game tunes
OREANDA-NEWS. June 27, 2016. Atari recently announced plans to move away from video games and into the smart home space, but the video game pioneer hasn't lost sight of its roots.
Today the company unveiled details about a collaboration in the works with Wu-Tang Clan rapper and producer RZA, who will record an upcoming album of songs inspired by the 8-bit soundtracks of iconic Atari games like Centipede, Missile Command, and Pong.
"I'm so excited to work on these iconic games to deliver what I believe will be one of my best albums," RZA said in a statement to Billboard.
The artist added that he plans to invite some friends into the studio for feature spots on the album as well.
This isn't the first time RZA has been invited to work with the classic game manufacturer. The two first teamed up back in 2006 when RZA contributed voice-over work for the Atari game "Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure."
