OREANDA-NEWS  Iran and Russia have agreed on the supply of cars within the framework of a memorandum of understanding. The corresponding agreement was signed between the two countries, writes Fars with reference to the head of the Iranian Association of Auto Parts Manufacturers Mohammad Reza Najafi Manesh.

Russia will become another buyer of cars assembled on the territory of the Islamic Republic. Our countries have already signed a memorandum of understanding worth $300," the agency said in a statement.

At the moment, Iran already supplies its cars to Azerbaijan and Armenia. The country also began to supply cars of its own production to Venezuela, where more than a thousand Iranian cars were sent. The largest manufacturer of machines in the republic is the company Iran Khodro. One of its models has already appeared on the Russian market — the Samand sedan, created on the basis of the Peugeot 405. The country also produces other cars based on French and Chinese models.

Iran Khodro has planned to supply its cars to Russia amid the aggravation of the geopolitical conflict. The company would like to take the place of European, American, Japanese and Korean cars that have left the country. The first model will be the Tara sedan, based on the Peugeot 301 platform, with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Earlier it was reported that the Moskvich plant plans to start producing fully Russian cars in 2025. The degree of localization of production at Moskvich will grow as fast as possible, and next year the plant will produce about 50 thousand new cars, some of which will be used to upgrade the car-sharing fleet.
