OREANDA-NEWS There is a shortage of spare parts for popular car brands in Russia. This was stated to Autonews by the heads of large Russian dealer companies.

The market is particularly acutely aware of the shortage of control units, gearboxes, ABS and airbags. Problems with supplies are experienced even by the leaders of brands that have not officially announced their departure from Russia, for example, Hyundai.

As a result of the shortage of parts, pre-trial claims from owners of Mercedes cars who cannot repair cars on time began to accumulate. Due to the inability to bring many spare parts even by parallel import, some cars are waiting for repairs for eight months. The shortage in the spare parts market developed after the start of a special operation in Ukraine and the termination of supplies to Russia by a number of foreign automakers. The cost of some parts in repair has increased by almost 30 percent on average, and in a number of positions — by one and a half times, the Russian Union of Motorists (RSA) said. It has not yet been possible to arrange deliveries in the required volume, so it has become rare to offer CTP repairs: basically, the cost of damaged parts is paid to motorists in cash.

Against the background of a shortage of spare parts, the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Russia have thought about the possibility of using used spare parts when repairing cars under insurance, provided that appropriate safety guarantees are developed. The State Duma also proposed to create an industry for the restoration of parts. The deputies explained the idea by the fact that such a practice has developed not only in developing countries (China, Turkey, South Africa), but also in developed countries, including the United States.
