tests of the prototype were carried out in Hawaii. However, there was a malfunction in the engine of the weapon. Gorman did not provide any other details.

Bloomberg reports that this is the second unsuccessful test attempt under the Conventional Prompt Strike program, a rocket and a missile launched from Virginia-class submarines.

In April, a source told CNN that the United States had successfully tested a hypersonic missile in mid-March. However, they decided to keep them a secret because of the unwillingness to allow tensions in relations with Russia to grow, the source said. According to the channel, the tests took place a few days after Russia announced the use of the Kinzhal hypersonic missile in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, in early March, the Pentagon postponed and subsequently canceled a scheduled test launch of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile. Plans were also changed due to tense relations with Moscow, the Wall Street Journal reported.
