OREANDA-NEWS  The European Union (EU) will ban the digital ruble. The head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, wrote about this on her personal page on the social network X.

According to the politician, the European Union intends to change the conditions of restrictions on Russian oil prices in the near future. This measure is necessary to ensure a future total ban on maritime services. Meanwhile, the head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, has already announced the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions. We are talking about plans to ban both insurance and transportation of oil from the Russian Federation, regardless of its price.

In addition, as part of the 20th package of restrictions, a number of banks will be prohibited from accessing transactions both in Russia and in third countries. These organizations will be disconnected from the SWIFT payment system.

"Wars end when one side runs out of money. To stop the fighting, it is necessary to cut off cash flows to Moscow. We will also ban the digital currency of the Central Bank of Russia, take additional measures regarding cryptocurrencies and prohibit interaction with Russian service providers in the field of crypto assets," Kallas promised.

According to the EC, restrictions against 20 Russian regional banks and several banks of third countries will affect organizations that are involved in trade in sanctioned goods.
