OREANDA-NEWS In the second half of 2025, the growth of consumer activity in Russia accelerated compared to the first half of the year, but remained below the pace of the previous two years, indicating the transition of Russians to economy mode. This is stated in the report of the Central Bank "Regional Economy".

The trend was observed in all regions of the country. However, "more rational and economical consumption" and "more attentive attitude of buyers to spending" were most noticeable in problem regions, for example, in the Kemerovo region.

In Central Russia, as one of the major regional retailers pointed out, the share of promotional and promotional items in purchases exceeded 50 percent. In the Siberian Federal District, grocery chains also note that customers have become more active in purchasing products for the promotion and are increasingly ignoring expensive and optional items.

In Primorsky Krai, the growth in turnover of the leading producer of meat products was associated with an increase in sales of its cheapest items in discount stores.

In the country as a whole, consumers are trying to extend the service life of vehicles and postpone the purchase of new ones, which is reflected in the increased demand for repair services. In the field of public catering, consumer preferences of citizens have changed in favor of fast food and the purchase of ready-made food in food retail.

Earlier it was reported that against the background of declining sales of butter in Russia, the demand for margarine increased, which caused the latter to rise in price by 15 percent over the year.
