OREANDA-NEWS The weighted average market mortgage rates for the week from March 3 to March 9 decreased by 0.8 percentage points in the primary market and by 0.86 percentage points in the secondary market. This is reported by RBC with reference to data from the Unified Housing Information System (UISWS).

Thus, in the primary market, the weighted average mortgage rate dropped to 27.93 percent, in the secondary market — to 28.43 percent.

At the same time, mortgage market rates have been rising throughout the past year. At the beginning of 2024, the average market mortgage rate for new buildings was 16.3 percent, and for secondary housing — 16.2 percent. By the end of December, rates had risen to 28.98 and 29.39 percent, respectively. In January, they remained unchanged, in February, the rate on new buildings decreased by 0.2 percent, and it practically did not change for secondary housing.

Earlier, the government decided to consider the idea of extending the preferential mortgage program to families with one minor child. Konstantin Barsukov, a member of the Russian Guild of Realtors, believes that this will help Russian developers in difficult conditions of low demand for housing.
