OREANDA-NEWS Russian Railways is discussing with Chinese Railways (KZhD) the launch of updated passenger cars from China between the countries, Sergei Pavlov, the company's first deputy general director, told RIA Novosti.

"We are currently studying, we have conducted an experiment. There are a lot of technical and organizational issues, so we will solve them and move on. First, we launch them for a short distance, let's see which one," Pavlov said on the sidelines of the Transport of Russia forum about these wagons.

Earlier, Russian Railways told RIA Novosti that from February 25 to March 11, 2025, Russian and Chinese railways conducted an experimental trip of the updated rolling stock along the Beijing– Ulaanbaatar –Moscow route and back.

The train consisted of 12 Chinese-made wagons that had not previously been operated on the Russian Railways network. According to Russian Railways, Chinese passenger cars previously ran on Russian railways as part of trains No. 3/4 Beijing – Moscow and No. 402/401 Suifenhe - Grodekovo, but in a different modification.
