OREANDA-NEWS  The European Union (EU) has proposed the mass expulsion of Russian diplomats. This is reported by EUobserver, citing sources.

"EU countries must 'achieve parity' when it comes to the still large number of Russian diplomats in EU cities compared to the small number of European envoys who remained in Moscow," the newspaper quoted a European official who wished to remain anonymous as saying.

According to the source, such an "achievement of parity" will lead to a new mass expulsion of Russians from Europe.

Earlier it became known that the EU countries, as part of the 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions, want to restrict the movement within the bloc not only of Russian diplomats, but also of all employees of Russian diplomatic missions. According to European officials, new rules should be introduced to "prevent subversive activities."
