OREANDA-NEWS  The Consular Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry recommends that Russians apply for ten-year biometric passports due to the refusal of unfriendly European powers to recognize a non-biometric document.

"Taking into account the consistent refusal of European unfriendly states to recognize Russian five-year non-biometric passports, we once again urge you to regularly monitor information regarding the passport regime with these countries and issue ten-year biometric passports in a timely manner," the Russian Foreign Ministry's consular department said in a Telegram channel.

The table of third-country passports accepted by EU countries, updated as of December 23, 2025, indicates that Romania and Germany have stopped accepting Russian non-biometric passports since January 1, 2026. Poland will do the same from April 1, 2026.
