Unemployment in Russia rose to 2.2 percent in December

OREANDA-NEWS Unemployment in Russia rose to 2.2% in December from 2.1% in November, according to Rosstat data.
In recent years, against the background of a significant shortage of personnel, unemployment in the Russian Federation has repeatedly updated its historical minimum. The last one was set in August at 2.1%. However, in September and October, it returned to the level of 2.2%, and in November it was 2.1% again.
"In December 2025, 1.6 million people aged 15 and over were classified as unemployed (according to the methodology of the International Labor Organization). The unemployment rate of the population aged 15 years and older in December 2025 was 2.2% (excluding the seasonal factor)," the report of the statistical agency says.
