OREANDA-NEWS  Apple has confirmed on the Russian-language support portal that it has stopped processing payments for purchases in the App Store in Russia.

The company noted that the measure is effective from April 1. If there are no funds in the balance, it is no longer possible to renew subscriptions and make purchases in the app.

Apple stated that the remaining funds in the account can be used, and it is still possible to replenish the balance using promo codes and gift cards.

Subscriptions will be canceled if funds cannot be debited, but the data stored in iCloud+ will remain available to Russian users as an exception, and photos and videos can be downloaded from the cloud.

On March 31, it became known that the Ministry of Finance wanted to ban Russians from paying for services in the App Store from a mobile account. Thus, the agency wanted to force the company to return the Russian applications that were removed from the store in 2022. It was also emphasized that the corporation does not comply with Russian legislation, in particular, it does not remove VPN services from the Russian App Store, as required by Roskomnadzor.
