OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2008. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) sent a letter to the heads of the executive bodies of the constituent territories of the Russian Federation, where it emphasized that the terms of the agreements between the executive bodies of the constituent territories of the Russian Federation and economic entities, based on № 769 Decree of the Government of the Russia Federation of 10.11.2007 "On Agreements between the Authorities in the Constituent Territories of the Russian Federation and Economic Entities on Reducing and Maintaining Prices on Certain Socially Important Foods Products of First Priority", ended on 30th April 2008, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

At the same time, FAS Russia is receiving information regarding prolongation of the agreements in some constituent territories of the Russian Federation.

Article 16 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition" forbids agreements between the federal executive bodies, the authorities the constituent territories of the Russian Federation or between them and economic entities, if such agreements lead or may lead to preventing, restricting or eliminating competition, particularly, increasing, decreasing or maintaining prices (tariffs), except cases when such agreements are specified by the federal laws or regulatory enactments of the President of the Russian Federation or regulatory enactments of the Government of the Russian Federation, prolongation of such agreements can constitute antimonopoly violations.

In addition, FAS Russia instructed its regional offices to prevent violations of the antimonopoly legislation and to undertake appropriate antimonopoly measures.
