14 New Sports Grounds Will Be Constructed in North Moscow
OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 August 2008 was announced, that 14 sports grounds are to be under construction in north Moscow next year.
“It is planned to create 14 grounds with the total area of 9,000 sq m in 2009. 6 grounds will be located in Timiryazevsky township, 3 – in Dmitrovsy, 2 – in Begovoy, 1 – in each of Voikovsky, Levoberezhny and Khovrino,” Yury Khardikov, prefect of the northern administrative district of Moscow, said.
According to the official, 236 sports grounds with the total area of about 150,000 sq m are currently equipped with the necessary facilities in the district, however, it isn’t enough according to the city standards.
“The sports grounds are spread over the district unevenly. For example, Beskudnikovsky township is provided with them for 134 per cent, but there is a shortage of them in many other townships,” the prefect noted.
Besides the construction of new sports grounds, the municipal authorities intend to reconstruct the existent ones. 8 sports grounds are to undergo reconstruction in 2009 – 5 – in Begovoy township, 2 – in Levoberezhny, 1 – in Eastern Degunino.
“Around USD 8 million is to be allocated for the construction and reconstruction of the sports grounds in 2009,” Mr Khardikov added.
