OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2009. In January-September 2009, the number of subscribers of fixed broadband Internet access services in Moldova has grown by 43,5% reaching 165,2 thousand.

According to ANRCETI, the number of subscribers of mobile broadband Internet (with monthly traffic not less than 1 MB) has reached 62 thousand. At the same time, for 9 months of 2009, the number of subscribers of Internet access services through dial-up (ordinary phone line) has reduced twice and has reached 20 thousand.

The agency’s experts explain this trend by the increased availability of the attractive offers of high-speed Internet services and by intensification of the process of replacement of narrow-band access services by broadband services.

For the same period the level of penetration of broadband Internet access services per one hundred citizens of Moldova has grown by 1,4% making 4,63 % and narrow-band Internet access services (through dial-up) has decreased twice and reached 0,57 %.
