OREANDA-NEWS. January 13, 2010. The new structure of Port Authority that was approved on the 10th of August 2009 by the Board of Klaipeda State Seaport Authority and came into force on the 1st of January 2010 and a disestablished Representation Office in the Republic of Belarus will allow to save nearly 0,5 million litas a year, reported the press-centre of Klaipeda Port.
 
„The mentioned reorganization has been performed in order to optimize a structure and operate efficiently at lower costs. The following necessary changes were implemented – the number of departments and their heads was decreased, functions doubling each other were eliminated, maintenance costs of premises were reduced“ told Eugenijus Gentvilas, director general of Port Authority
 
After reorganization the number of departments in Port Authority reduced – instead of 23 only 13 departments remained. This reduction results into the less number of executive employees and saving of remuneration funds. Under the data of the 1st of January, 2009 the number of positions was 299. From the 1st of January of this year the number of positions dropped to 272. Due to this difference in 27 positions the Port Authority will save 370 thousand litas annually.

Port Authority will incur fewer expenses due wages of top managers reduced by 37 percent in 2009. Furthermore, considering the impact of economic difficulties, wages of all employees of Authority were reduced.

In 2010 remuneration fund will be approximately 13,5 million litas, including 7,8 million litas anticipated for wages of port maintenance employees.

In 2009 the planned remuneration fund was 14,243 million Lt,
In 2008 – 13,265 million Lt,
In 2007 – 12,355 million Lt.
 
From the 1st of January, 2010 a Representative Office in the Republic of Belarus suspended its activity and eliminated the position of its head. The activity of the mentioned Representative Office will be compensated by mutual relations with relative institutions of the Republic of Belarus. Pursuant to the data of Port Authority this activity cancellation will allow to save additionally nearly 130 thousand litas annually.
 
„These changes are not final or irrevocable. We anticipate to re - consider the functionality of this new structure, remuneration for employees, maintenance costs and their legitimacy and do not eliminate the possibility that some changes are still possible,“ – told the director general Eugenijus Gentvilas.
