OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2010. Estonian Air and the Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier signed an agreement under which two brand new Bombardier CRJ900NG aircraft will be delivered to Estonian Air at the beginning of 2011 and a third similar plane in 2012.

The document replaces a similar agreement signed in March 2008 and it will come fully into effect after the Estonian parliament has endorsed the government's decision as regards increasing the share capital of Estonian Air, the airline said.

"This is a pivotal step for our company - we are taking into use side by side with existing aircraft smaller planes better meeting the Estonian market's demand, which enable us to make our flight schedules better and to open new destinations," Estonian Air President and CEO Andrus Aljas said.

The planes of the CRJ900NG modification manufactured for Estonian Air are an updated version of the model of 2009.

To finance the acquisition, Estonian Air will use long-term credit from different financial institutions and own money.

Estonian Air will use the new planes primarily on shorter routes with higher business demand in order to be able to add more flights to business destinations such as Moscow and Brussels. Also the addition of new destinations is planned.

Estonian Air signed the first contract for the purchase of three Bombardier aircraft in 2008, with delivery scheduled for mid-2009. In April 2010 that agreement was terminated between in the sides on the condition that a new agreement on the same terms except for the times of delivery will be signed and Estonian Air will be able to use the advance payment executed by it under the original deal.
