OREANDA-NEWS. December 20, 2010. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov takes part in the opening of traffic from the left bank to the right of Darnytskiy bridge across the Dnipro river in Kyiv.

"For the first time in 30 years we put into operation a bridge across the Dnieper in Kiev" - Mykola Azarov emphasized. He added that construction of the bridge has begun in 2003, its completion has been scheduled for 2006, but due to neglect for Kiev by the previous administration, the construction was suspended. "The victory of Viktor Yanukovych on the presidential election allowed us to return to this building and we set builders a task: to complete in September the railway bridge, and in December to put into operation the car traffic. We did it. And next year we will put into operation the entire complex"- the Prime Minister stressed. He added that the complex of Darnitskiy rail and road bridge would reduce the number of traffic jams in the capital.

In addition, the PM informed that next week Zhulyanskiy overpass would be put into operation in Kiev.

Mykola Azarov thanked the builders, railroad and Kiev government representatives for such a large project being completed in short time and presented them with government awards. "Such complexes never appeared during seven months. You have proven that you can do it, that means that we will be able to solve serious and extensive problem" - the Prime Minister said.

The ceremony was also attended by Director General of the State Railway Transport Administration "UZ" Mihail Kostiuk, Head of the Kyiv city state administration Aleksandr Popov and head of the South-Western Railway Alex Krivopishin, whom PM thanked apart for good work.

Let us recall that on September 27, this year Mykola Azarov opened the railway traffic on Darnytskiy bridge in Kiev. Opening traffic by that bridge from the left to the right bank was scheduled to end of 2010. In 2011 traffic will be opened in both directions.

Darnytskiy rail and vehicular bridge has 6-way roadway for vehicles. Capacity of the new bridge will reach 35 thousand cars per day, and will solve the problem of road traffic between the left and the right banks of the capital.
