OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2011. The 14th ceremony of awarding winners of The Wings of Russia national award in aviation took place in Moscow yesterday. This year, 37 Russian air carriers competed for the Airline of the Year title. Winners were elected by secret ballot by the members of the Public Council incorporating over 100 independent experts in air transport  representing authorities, industry associations, retired civil aviation workers, journalists.

The jury declared Ural Airlines

the Domestic Passenger Air Carrier of the Year in Group II (1 to 3 billion domestic PKM) of 2010.

The Wings of Russia prize was established in 1997 by the Russian Association of Air Transport Operators and the ATO industrial magazine; it remains the only recognized industry award distinguishing achievements of Russian airlines in the development of the civil aviation.

Ural Airlines was among the winners already in the first year of the award. In 1997, the airline was honored with the Wings of Russia award as the most efficient airline of the year. Later, Ural Airlines won prizes in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2009.
