Lactalis Invested EUR 17 mn to Cheese-Making Plant Alba in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. April 18, 2011. Investments of the French group Lactalis into the Soroca cheese-making plant Alba in Moldova belonging to it, have exceeded 17 million euros since 2004. It was said during the Moldovan Prime Minister Vladimir Filat’s visit to the Lactalis enterprise in France, according to the Moldovan Government’s press service.
It was said that the Lactalis group had spent these funds for the full reconstruction of the Moldovan enterprise and providing it with modern equipment. 220 people are currently working at the enterprise. Lactalis-Alba Moldova company purchases milk in 76 villages, processing 80 tones of milk a day and producing 7 tones of cheese a day.
Since March 2010, the Soroco cheese-making plant has been producing cottage cheese, desserts, melt and soft cheese under the President trademark. Lactalis-Alba Moldova imports to Moldova elite French cheese (Bri, Camembert, Roquefort), the dessert group Dolce, melt cheese, cottage cheese and butter. Having familiarized with the whole dairy products production cycle at the enterprise, with the order and production promotion and sale, Vladimir Filat said the group should increase investments into our country.
He said the Moldovan Government is creating favorable conditions for investors’ work. The Lactalis Group is a global leader in production of dairy products and cheese. It owns 77 plants in France and 51 plants – abroad. Investments in production exceeded 300 million euros. 38 thousand emlployees work in the Lactalis Group.
