OREANDA-NEWS. September 28, 2011. Within the frameworks of the program "Sea Launch", the carrier rocket for space purposes "Zenith -3SL" was successfully launched from a floating platform "Odyssey" allocated in water area of the Pacific Ocean.  The Ukrainian rocket has launched into a geostationary orbit the telecommunications satellite "Atlantic Bird 7" a mass of 4577 kg.

The space booster "Zenith" is developed by the State Enterprise Yuzhnoye Design Office named after M.K. Yangel and made by the State Enterprise "Production Association Southern Machine-Building Plant named after A.M. Makarov" in cooperation with the Russian and Ukrainian enterprises.

The space vehicle "Atlantic Bird 7" is based on the Eurostar E3000 platform of company Astrium. The vehicle is intended for provision of a high-quality broadcasting of the countries of the Middle East, including the Gulf countries, and also North and Northeast Africa.

Start is conducted by the international consortium Sea Launch.

This start became the thirty first missile launch of space assignment "Zenith-3SL" within the frameworks of the program "Sea Launch".
