Moldova Exported 973 000 Dal of Wine to EU for 9 Months
OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2011. About this it was informed in the Ministry of Economy of Moldova, noting that earlier in support of the Moldovan wine-producers EU has increased our country duty-free quotas for deliveries of wine to the EU in 2011 by 50% - to 1.5 million dal.
According to the decision of the EU, duty-free quotas for deliveries of Moldovan wines to the EU in 2012 will increase to 1.8 million dal, and from 2013 to 2015, Moldova will be able to supply to the EU annually 2.4 million dal. The European Union has also decided that the quota for barley for Moldova will increase annually by 5 tons, from 35 tons in 2011 to 60 thousand tons in 2015, quotas for corn will increase from 30 tons in 2011 to 40 thousand tons in 2012 and in subsequent years will increase by 5 tons to reach 55 thousand in 2015.
According to the Ministry of Economy of Moldova, for 9 months of 2011 the country has already made full use of its quota provided for the current year for exports to the EU of corn and wheat, which accounted for 30 thousand and 40 thousand tons, respectively. The quotas for barley exports in January-September this year were used at 87.1%: 30.5 tons supplied from annual quota of 35 thousand tons.
Moldova is currently able to supply to the EU without paying customs duties all products, except 12 agricultural products, which establishes are covered by some quota . In particular, the country has preferences on exports to the EU without paying customs duties of wines, grain, sugar and other sensitive agricultural goods within the approved quota.
Individual trade preferences were granted to Moldova on March 1, 2008 in order to liberalize trade with the EU and provide the prerequisites for an economically enabling environment, and to attract investments. It is planned that by the end of this year Moldova and the EU will start negotiations on establishment of a deep and comprehensive free trade agreement between the RM and the EU.
