Belarus’ fixed-capital investments and investments in construction totaled 23.697 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br) in January-March 2012, or USD 2.692 million at the official rate of the central bank, down 15.1% year on year, the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

As much as 9.883 trillion rubles was spent on buying machines, equipment, and vehicles in January-March 2012, down 16.7% from the 2011 level.

Investments in construction and assembly operations totaled 11.526 trillion rubles, down 16.1% on the year in January-March 2012.

As much as 1.344 million square meters of new homes was commissioned in the period, up 5.3%.

In January-March 2012, as much as 10.881 trillion rubles worth of contract works was performed, down 22.3% from January 2011.

The figure for state-run enterprises went down 33.3% to 1.632 trillion rubles, private companies – down 19% to 9.118 trillion rubles, foreign-owned companies – down 17.6% to 130.1 billion rubles.
