Ukraine Have Enough Grain as for Consumption as for Export
OREANDA-NEWS. July 13, 2012. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, opening the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, assured that we have enough grain as for domestic consumption as for export, as eight million tons of grain has already been harvested.
“We have currently 8 million ton of new corn. This is quite not bad performance. We have enough grain both for domestic consumption and for export” – he said.
According to the Head of the Government, all regions of the country are involved in the harvesting campaign, and today, under favorable weather conditions, the grain harvested at four million hectares – it is more than 40% of the total area.
In addition, the Prime Minister said, the average yield of wheat in the central regions, where the main volume of grain, is about 30 centners per hectare: "It improves the prospects of the gross harvest as a whole".
“Given the situation on foreign markets, the Ukrainian grain will have an advantageous price. This means that domestic farmers can rely not only on the return on investment, but also for decent profits” Mykola Azarov said.
