OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2012. The Ungheni-Iasi gas pipeline will become functional in 2013. The term for putting into service of the gas pipelines is seen in the document on cooperation in the energy security signed by Moldovan and Romanian Prime Ministers Vlad Filat and Victor Ponta in Chisinau.

The document also comprises terms for putting into service of the high-pressure electricity interconnection Gotesti-Falciu and the power lines Suceava-Balti.

The officials signed many documents, of which a cooperation protocol between the Moldovan Education Ministry and the Romanian Education, Research, Youth and Sport Ministry for 2012-2013, 2013-2014, 2014-2015, as well as an action plan in the justice sector between the Moldovan and Romanian Justice Ministries for 2012-2013.

Vlad Filat said at a joint conference that Victor Ponta's visit to Chisinau is a natural continuation of the special and privileged relations between Moldova and Romania, and a continuation of the joint meeting between the governments of the two countries, held in Iasi on 3 March 2012.

Ponta said that since his mandate he was willing to visit Chisinau in order to continue implementing the projects which previously started, and which are favourable to the bilateral relations.

Today in the afternoon, Ponta will hold meetings with Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu and President Nicolae Timofti.
