OREANDA-NEWS. January 16, 2013. CEO Chung Joonyang visited Pohang and Gwangyang Steelworks with the start of the New Year, encouraging employees to do their best in their roles and fields, reported the press-centre of POSCO.

CEO Chung particularly said that he gains energy and feels great when meeting employees who are always dedicated to cost reduction, innovation, and profitability improvement activities, emphasizing, ``POSCO`s future is bright thanks to everyone here.`` He also explained, ``POSCO`s competitiveness always comes from your efforts to always find the best methods in your field and improving things in the direction for the better,`` and asked to start the New Year with great motivation and achieve good results.

CEO Chung Joonyang, for two days starting on January 8th, visited factories in Suncheon and Gwangyang including the magnesium plate material factory, SNG (synthetic natural gas) construction site, steel factory 2, electroplate factory, steel plate factory and others, encouraging employees contributing to profitability improvement and innovation activities.

CEO Chung, who visited the magnesium plate material factory first, toured the wide casting line and production line for mobile devices, and requested to expand the market to IT and automobiles this year.

CEO Chung then visited the SNG construction site, emphasizing that the SNG business producing gas and electricity using low-cost coal is a major green growth business, and to make safety the top priority and complete construction well to the end.

He then visited steel factory 2 and encouraged employees for creating a clean factory and setting up safe operation processes.

The next day, CEO Chung visited the galvanizing factory MCL (multi-coating line) and explained that the most important role of researchers is to develop products that can offer the greatest value to customers, and to take pride in being in charge of leading the world`s steel technology.

CEO Chung visited the steel plate factory last, shared opinions on major interests of employees, and encouraged them for preceding management of the CTO and focusing on increasing absolute quality and improving profitability by achieving TMCP productivity goals.

Meanwhile, CEO Chung emphasized that this year`s competition must focus on value management by creating value for customers rather than on cost competition, and requested all employees to participate in innovation management based on owner`s minds.

Previously, on January 2nd, CEO Chung Joonyang visited major factories at Pohang Steelworks as well as outsource partners to visit on-site and encourage employees.
