OREANDA-NEWS. March 20, 2013. Raising of rate of a customs duty on the imported foreign automobiles is a forced step joined with support of the national producer and resuming of workplaces. This was innformed by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov on his page in Facebook.

“I have already told that any decision which the country takes under complicated economic circumstances is not always ideal and deprived of negative effects. And we should always be guided by what we want to achieve in the concrete economical situation. What do we have nowadays? During the last year national car manufacturers practically ceased their activity. They did not stand competition with cheap imported automobiles transported from Russia and other states. And it means that dozens thousands of people stayed without work, in fact,” Mykola Azarov told.  

He emphasized that all the countries, especially in the slowdown period, first of all, support the national producer and think how to preserve work places for the citizens. According to the Premier, buying an imported car we, first of all, spend money to the development of other countries instead of our own.

“Certainly, this action is forced and temporary. When the situation is corrected, it will be abolished, of course. And our importers should think how to reduce expenses and we are ready to meet with them and assist in this matter, and to increase the cost of the imported automobiles. We are well aware that there are also work places in this area, that’s why we would not like to harm to this significant and necessary matter as we understand very well that the national car manufacturer is not capable to satisfy completely the needs of our people in transport,” Mykola Azarov stressed.
