OREANDA-NEWS. June 28, 2013. Installation of gas treatment complex (bag filter) for cleaning off-gases from smelting furnaces is under way in the refining shop of Kola MMC (MMC Norilsk Nickel’s subsidiary).

Bag filter is capable of holding up to 99% of dust and gases discharged through the stack. This dust contains large amounts of non-ferrous and precious metals, which after filtration go back into production process.

The new unit will replace at once four electrostatic filters that became obsolete after long-term operation. Their performance factor is only 86%.

Implementation of the project is also important for the employees of the refinery shop. The new technology will make it possible to reduce fugitive dust emissions significantly and improve working conditions.

Currently, installation of gas treatment complex is under way in the refining shop. Its commissioning is scheduled for the end of December 2013.

The company's investments in the project will approach RUB 95 million.
