Russian Railways Network Loaded 104,7 mn Tons in September
OREANDA-NEWS. October 07, 2013. According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways' network loaded 104.7 million tons of freight in September 2013, 1.5 % less than in September 2012.
Freight turnover in September 2013 decreased compared to the same month last year by 1.5 % to 179.2 billion tariff ton-km. Including empty wagons runs, freight turnover during September 2013 increased by 1.9 % to 230.3 billion ton- km.
According to the latest figures, loading during January-September 2013 amounted to 924.3 million tons, 3 % less compared to the same period in 2012. The railways shipped the following goods during January-September 2013. The percentage change compared to January-September 2012 is shown in brackets:
coal – 227.7 m tons (+0.8%);
coke – 8.6 m tons (-11.4%);
oil and petroleum products – 186.3 m tons (-2.8%);
iron and manganese ores – 82.7 m tons (+1.3%);
ferrous metals – 52.6 m tons (-5.4%);
ferrous metal scrap – 12.3 m tons (-9.7%);
chemical and mineral fertilisers – 34.7 m tons (+2.1%);
cement– 27.4 m tons (-0.6%);
timber – 27 m tons (-3.3%);
grain – 8.5 m tons (-35.6%);
construction materials – 132.8 m tons (-4.7%);
non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 15.7 m tons (-7.9%);
chemicals and soda – 19.6 m tons (-6.6%);
industrial raw materials and moulded materials – 25.3 m tons (-5.2%).
Freight turnover since the beginning of 2013 amounted to 1,614.9 billion tariff ton-kilometers (-2.6 %) and 2,068.5 billion ton-km, taking into account empty wagon runs, a decline of 0.5% on the same period in 2012.
