Lenta Opens Its First Hypermarket in Tomsk
OREANDA-NEWS. The opening of a Lenta store in Tomsk expands its footprint to 38 cities and contributes to Lenta's objective to increase its selling space by 30% in 2013
St. Petersburg, Russia; 28 October, 2013 - Lenta Ltd (“Lenta” or the “Company”), one of the largest retail chains in Russia, is pleased to announce the launch of its first hypermarket the Tomsk Region.
Lenta opened a new hypermarket on October 26th in 30 Mira prospect, Tomsk. The new hypermarket increases Lenta's store count to 64 hypermarkets and 5 supermarkets in 38 cities across Russia.
The new store has a total area of 12,000 sq.m., which includes a sales area of 7,000 sq.m. and 40 modern cash registers will serve customers who also have access to a car park for 475 cars. The store will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The store will contain 22,000 different food and non-food products, together with approximately 500 local goods from local producers. The hypermarket has created 250 local jobs and there are plans to create an additional 30-40 position in the store.
The opening brings the total sales area for all stores to approximately 425,000 sq.m. as at the end of October, 2013. Since the beginning of 2013, the company has opened 13 new stores, including 8 hypermarkets and 5 supermarkets, to increase its total sales area by 12.9% in 69 stores in Russia, including the 5 supermarkets and enlarging its geographic footprint following openings in 7 new localities. Lenta plans to increase its selling space by 30% during 2013 through the opening of 18 new hypermarkets and 7-10 new supermarkets.
