OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2014. The Chairman of Kazkosmos Talgat Musabayev, speaking at the international conference "Space Communications. Results and Prospects", highlighted the development of national satellite communications and broadcasting “KazSat” in our country talking about the achievements of Kazakhstan in the field of space activities.

"Satellite Communications of Kazakhstan has existed for 10 years. Kazakhstan has a sufficient orbital- frequency resource and its position in the geostationary orbit now," he said.

As is known, the Kazakh group of satellite communication and broadcasting “KazSat” includes three spacecraft. Unfortunately, the first communications and broadcasting satellite “KazSat-1” launched in 2006, having worked more than a year in orbit, ceased to function.

The second national communications and broadcasting satellite “KazSat-2” launched in 2011 is working successfully.

According to the Head of Kazkosmos, “KazSat- 2” satellite resources are used by 11 Kazakh operators today, loading is more than 63% of its total capacity. Services of more than 3,5 billion tenge have been rendered within the country for 2 years of the satellite “KazSat-2” operating.

As T. Musabayev reported, “KazSat-3” satellite will be launched from “Baikonur “cosmodrome on 28 April, and it creates a full satellite communication and broadcasting system “KazSat”.

Upon commissioning the full bunching of “KazSat”, communication and broadcasting services in the amount of 6,5 billion tenge can be rendered annually in Kazakhstan, according to Kazkosmos.
