OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2014. In accordance with the agreement, signed by the Director of Russian Federal Drug Control Service, Victor Ivanov, and MMC Norilsk Nickel CEO, Vladimir Potanin, joint measures will be taken to counter illegal drug trafficking and spread of drug abuse, to promote information exchange and to hold research and practice conferences, workshops and other relevant joint programs.

The Parties will cooperate on a free-of-charge basis.

“Problems related to illegal drug trafficking cannot be resolved without involvement of the general public and business community, including major companies, operating directly in the regions. We hope that our co-operation with Norilsk Nickel will be an example of efficient public-private partnership in this field” – Victor Ivanov, the Director of Russian Federal Drug Control Service, said.

MMC Norilsk Nickel CEO, Vladimir Potanin noted that “Norilsk Nickel is a city-forming enterprise in almost all of its presence regions. We are interested in developing safe environment for our employees. Every year the Company allocates considerable resources in order to meet these objectives. We hope that our joint work with FDCS will give a new impetus to prevention of illegal drug trafficking activities”.
