OREANDA-NEWS. April 30, 2014. CLP Power would like to respond to the issue of standby duties raised by some CLP staff:

We believe that staff is an important asset of the company and maintaining corporate wellness is one of our prime human resources objectives.

At the same time, CLP Power is committed to providing a safe and reliable electricity supply to the community. Some staff occasionally may be required to undertake standby duties outside normal working hours, and report for duty to handle emergency situations that affect power supply.

Early this year, CLP Power offered a one - off ex-gratia payment to employees who have performed emergency standby duties over the past six years. Out of more than 1,800 eligible employees and retirees, over 99% have signed the acceptance letter.

Since 1995, we have adopted 5 day work week to ensure that it fulfils the legal requirement of 1 rest day in a period of 7 days even if employees are required to standby on Sunday.
