OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2014. Taxpayers whose last-year annual incomes exceeded MDL 1 million each declared the total income of MDL 789.9 million and paid the income tax that totalled MDL 55. 2 million, the State Taxation Inspectorate says.

At  press conference Director of the State Taxation Inspectorate Ion Prisacaru said in 2013 the largest income, the wage included, declared by an individual exceeded MDL 14.5 million. To compare, the largest income of 2012 was MDL 7 million. The youngest and the oldest millionaires of Moldova are 21 and 82 respectively.

About 73% of Moldova’s millionaires are men, 27% being women. About 87% of them (201 people) are residents of Chisinau, 5 millionaires are domiciled in Balti, 4 in Anenii Noi, 3 in Edinet, 2 in Briceni, etc. Against 2005, a number of millionaires in Moldova grew almost fourfold.

To be more precise, there were 58 millionaires in Moldova in 2005; 96 in 2006; 170 in 2007, 183 in 2008; 142 in 2009; 162 in 2010; 204 in 2011, 224 in 2012
