OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2014. The forum has been timed to Austria’s President Heinz Fischer’s formal visit to Moldova, InfoMarket was said at the Embassy of Austria in Romania.

The forum will bring together representatives of over 20 large Austrian companies, including Erste Group Bank AG, Grazer Wechselseitige Versicherung, AG HABAU Hoch und Tiefbau GmbH, Siemens AG Osterreich, Voith Hydro GmbH & Co. KG. The economic mission of the Austrian businessmen to Moldova, organized by the Embassy of Austria in Romania, will be headed by Vice-president of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Richard Schenz, who will make a speech together with President of CCI of Moldova Valeriu Lazar at the opening ceremony. The participants of the forum will discuss such topics of mutual interest as infrastructure, energy, agriculture and investment.

According to the trade section of the Austrian Embassy in Romania, Austria is a major investor in Moldova and Romania.

The forum aims to give possible investors an opportunity to form an opinion on Moldova’s market and to establish partnerships with Moldovan businessmen. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, over the first 8 months of 2014 Moldova's exports to Austria were USD 12.1 million, up 54.1% as compared with the same period of the past year. Moldova’s imports from Austria amounted to USD 78.3 million, down 7%. At present, the share of Austria makes 0.8% n Moldova’s exports and 2.3% in Moldova's imports.
