OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2014. Pertamina’s Quality Employee successfully produced value creation of Rp 7.6 trillion for the company in the 2014 Annual Pertamina Quality (APQ) Award which was an event for knowledge sharing and innovation creation to support the company’s performance.
 
APQ Award was an innovation competition and continuous improvement program that contested 12 awards. The announcement of the winner was attended by Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Sudirman Said, Pertamina interim president director and Pertamina’s board of director.
 
Pertamina interim president director Muhamad Husen in his remark said that the Annual Pertamina Quality Award supported the company’s efforts to prepare for global competition. Thus, the presence of Pertamina’s knowledge management should be optimized as a mean to share knowledge, create innovation and breakthrough aiming for value creation.
 
“We expect that Pertamina’s quality employees continue to create innovations that bring value added for the company both in new business opportunities and cost efficiency that can support the company’s 2025 aspiration,” Husen said.
 
Husen continued, with the theme of “Building Collaboration and Synergy of Quality Employees to Achieve Pertamina Energizing Asia 2025”, the APQ award could push the development of knowledge sharing culture and solving work problems and delivering ideas of innovation with the continuous improvement program method.
 
Pertamina VP quality, system and management Faisal Yusra added that APQ Award had continuously produced value creation in significant amount for the company. In 2010, APQ Award created value of Rp 985 billion. In the next year, the value for the company was Rp 1.29 trillion and in 2012, the amount was Rp 1.85 trillion. Last year, APQ award created value of Rp 2.71 trillion.
 
Those achievements brought more pride with the acknowledgement of Pertamina’s innovation in the national and international levels in 2014. Among others are 1st winner of 2014 Indonesian MAKE Award (highest award for knowledge management of companies in the national level); 2 gold, 4 silver, 1 broze medals in the International Convention on Quality Control Circle in Srilangka; 1 diamong and 2 gold medals in the Quality Conference in Australia; and 2 gold and 3 silver medals in the International Conference on Quality in Japan. The 2014 APQ was held for 5 days starting 1 to 5 November 2014 and was followed by 139 selected teams from 1,975 Pertamina’s operational, business, regional units and subsidiaries. This activity was also filled with an exhibition as the way for participants to display their efforts in creating innovations in a bid to support the company’s performance.
