Ukraine Does Not Intend to Resume Export of Power to Moldova in Full
OREANDA-NEWS. January 16, 2015. The press service of Ukraine's Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry has formally confirmed the cessation of the power exports to Moldova and Belarus and noted the decision had been taken to keep the consumption and generation of power in Ukraine balanced and to avoid blackouts in the country.
The export of power has been suspended starting November 28, 2014 to Moldova and starting October 1, 2014 to Belarus, the press release reads. To avoid blackouts the government of Ukraine has taken additional measures to ensure supply of power to the country.
It should be noted that as the supply of power from Ukraine has been suspended, Moldova has started buying more electricity from Moldovan Hydropower Plant, situated in Transnistria and owned by Inter RAO UES, Russia.
