Pavel Filip welcomes the extension of Ericsson presence in the Republic of Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2015. The Swedish company Ericsson, a global leader in providing technology and communications services, expands its operations in our country. The first Local Operations Center of Ericsson Networks Administration in South-East Europe was opened in Chisinau.
On this occasion, the Minister of Information Technology and Communications Pavel Filip said: “The Government of Moldova highly appreciates the investment of major global actors like Ericsson in such an industry of strategic importance as the Information and Communications Technology. Fortunately, your goals coincide with ours – to grow and expand the beneficial influence of technologies, develop business and identify new opportunities.”
The Ambassador of Sweden to Moldova Ingrid Tersman believes that the opening of the Centre will be favourable not only for the company, but also for both countries. “The ICT industry growth will create more jobs, keep in the county or return home the talented young people. The Republic of Moldova has the potential for the development of the ICT field, and, by its presence, Ericsson will contribute to increase this potential”, the Ambassador said.
According to Ericsson representatives, the Operations Center of Networks Administration will offer services allowing the operators to reduce the costs, improving at the same time the performance of their own networks and gaining customers’ loyalty. “Over the last 17 years we’ve constantly invested in the development of our local activities and we’ve grown from only 7 to over 80 employees. We are determined to continue to develop and increase our activity in this country in the coming years”, Nunzio Mirtillo, Head of Ericsson’s Mediterranean Region, mentioned.
Ericsson provides solutions and technological services, and supports complex projects of systems integration for the most important telecom operators, companies and also for the Government of the Republic of Moldova. The company has customers in over 180 countries and maintains networks that serve more than 2.5 billion subscribers, and 40% of global mobile traffic is supported by Ericsson networks.
