OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, and the Moscow government have signed an agreement on cooperation in telecom sector development.

The document has been signed by Tele2 CEO Mikhail Noskov and Artem Ermolayev, head of the Moscow information technologies department.

The agreement is seeking to lay foundation for cooperation between Tele2 and the information technologies department at the Moscow government in the capital’s telecom infrastructure development, increase in investment into the city economy and implementation of joint social projects. The sides will be working to improve the quality of connections in the city and inform Muscovites of existing and promising information services.

The investment program implies construction of Tele2 mobile services and its further development in Moscow so that city residents could use high-quality voice services and high-speed wireless Internet in 3G/4G. Thus, the signing of the document simultaneously solves important tasks of the city telecommunications services development and support for socially oriented projects.

On its part, the Moscow government will provide the operator its support in setting up base stations and other equipment at city facilities in line with other market participants.

Mikhail Noskov, CEO at Tele2:

“From the launch of operations in 2003 Tele2 passed its way from a small regional player to a federal operator that provides mobile services in over 60 regions. As a part of the strategy approved by shareholders we are planning to considerably expand our market share thanks to construction of the most up-to-date network and exit to new regions. One of Tele2 priority tasks in 2015 is to launch low-cost and high-quality mobile services in Moscow Region. The signing of the agreement with the city government is another step to implement the company’s strategy. We are planning not only to invest considerable funds into construction of the network infrastructure but also support the governmental programs targeted at the development of the economy and social sphere in the region.”

Artem Yerlolayev, head of the Moscow information technologies department:

“We welcome the coming of a new operator to Moscow and its intention to invest in the region despite a difficult economic situation. High-quality telecommunications infrastructure and well-developed competition on this market will help more comprehensively satisfy Muscovites needs and fuel emergence of new useful services developed by both city and third-party suppliers.”
