Enterprise re-opens Seaway: UpdateOREANDA-NEWS. September 02, 2015. The Seaway pipeline system was re-opened today after a temporary shutdown following a fire on a roof of a 350,000 bl crude tank at Enterprise Products Partners' Jones Creek terminal in Texas.

The Seaway pipeline system is a major conduit for crude from Cushing, Oklahoma, to Texas refineries.

Other incoming and outgoing pipelines to the Jones Creek terminal were also re-started, including a line that connects it to the Enterprise Crude Houston (Echo) terminal in Houston.

The fire appears to have been caused by a lightning strike at about 10am ET, an Enterprise spokesman said. The fire was extinguished at 12:52pm ET. The impacted tank was equipped with automated fire suppression systems including foam application capabilities.

Enterprise had closed the pipelines as a safety precaution.
