OREANDA-NEWS  By the end of November, the European Union exceeded the annual quota for Russian aluminum imports: supplies were 6% higher than the permissible limit, RIA Novosti calculated according to Eurostat.
As part of the 16th sanctions package, the European Union imposed a ban on imports of primary aluminum from Russia. It is planned that its import will be completely banned by the end of 2026, and in 2025 it could be purchased in the amount of 275 thousand tons per year.

According to the agency, imports in January-November amounted to 290.7 thousand tons.

Italy and Poland became the largest buyers of aluminum in the reporting period, each of which consumed a quarter of Russian exports. Spain came in second place with almost the same volume (a share of 22%), and Greece came in third (11%).
