OREANDA-NEWS To meet domestic demand for computers, from civilian to military and space classes, Russia needs a full-fledged factory for the production of high-performance microprocessors, said Alexander Kim, General director of the Isaac Brook Institute of Electronic Control Machines (INEUM, part of Rostec State Corporation's Rosel holding).
"I am convinced that a full-fledged factory should be set up in the country to produce high-performance microprocessors, including crystals and substrates, and it should provide a significant part of the domestic demand for computing equipment of various classes: from civilian computers to military and space processors," Kim said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.
According to the CEO, the Elbrus processors were produced at the Micron factory as an experiment. Today, large-scale production with the modern generation of Elbrus architecture and other domestic architectures is required at the technological level of crystal production, which will not deviate much from the foreign one, Kim noted.
