In August, Russia imported meat from Brazil for the maximum amount since 2017

OREANDA-NEWS In August, Russia increased meat imports from Brazil 1.6 times year-on-year, to a maximum of $67.6 million since 2017, according to an analysis by RIA Novosti of data from the Brazilian statistical service.
The last time it was higher was in November 2017, when imports reached $105.9 million.
The jump was due to a doubling in the supply of cattle meat, to $60.7 million from $30 million a year earlier. Imports of by-products from this meat increased slightly by 28%, to 4.3 million dollars.
At the same time, imports of poultry meat decreased almost fourfold, reaching 2.5 million dollars.
The leader in meat imports from Brazil in August was China, which purchased it for $909.6 million. Mexico imported it for $204 million, while the Philippines imported it for $149.4 million. The top five also included Chile ($103 million) and Japan ($93.8 million). Russia was the eighth.
