OREANDA-NEWS The Spanish company Inditex, which owns the Zara and Bershka brands, wanted to return to the Russian market. This is reported by TASS.
It turned out that Rospatent had registered the Inditex trademark, which was applied for on March 1 from Spain. A trademark is registered according to four classes of the international classification of goods and services, including clothing, advertising services, transportation, scientific and technological services.
The Inditex Group suspended official sales of its brands in Russia after the start of a special operation in Ukraine in 2022. After the closure of the stores, they were replaced by MAAG (Zara), Ecru (Bershka), Dub (Pull & Bear) and Vilet (Stradivarius). The name change did not bring significant benefits to the management group.
After a relatively successful 2022 (net profit of 3.9 billion rubles) JSC "New Fashion", which owns the above-mentioned brands, has gone into negative territory. By the end of 2023, the company's total loss amounted to 5.4 billion rubles. The Russian Union of Shopping Centers (CTC) then called the replacement of Zara the disappointment of the year.
