OREANDA-NEWS   Helicopters of the British Navy AgustaWestland AW101 ("Merlin") will be equipped with sonar buoys to track submarines, the Telegraph newspaper reports.

"Merlin Navy helicopters will receive a new tool for tracking submarines... The helicopters, based at Culdrose Naval Air Station in Cornwall, will be equipped with state-of-the-art sonar buoys as part of a £40 million upgrade.

According to the newspaper, the new buoys are disposable sonar devices that use underwater microphones and a radio antenna to transmit data to the operator.
