OREANDA-NEWS Latvia wants to transfer over 51,000 unused doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Ukraine, which will expire at the end of 2026, the Latvian radio and television portal LSM reports, citing the Latvian Ministry of Health.
"51,840 doses of Komirnaty Omicron LP vaccines are to be transferred to Ukraine.8.1, which will no longer be used in the national vaccination campaign in Latvia. The vaccines are valid until the end of 2026 and are currently stored at the State Blood Donor Center," according to a publication on the LSM website.
According to the portal, Ukraine informed Latvia in January about the urgent need for vaccines. In Latvia, the demand for vaccination has decreased, and stored vaccines cannot be used before the expiration date, LSM claims.
