OREANDA-NEWS  Sending French troops to Ukraine not as part of a peacekeeping mission is "madness." This was stated by the leader of the National Union faction in the French parliament, Marine Le Pen, reports BFMTV.

"The agreement on the resources [of Ukraine and the United States] seems to me mutually advantageous, while I believe that sending French combat troops to Ukrainian soil is madness. Only possible participation in a peacekeeping operation under the auspices of the United Nations can be considered," the politician said.

Le Pen also stressed that she does not support the idea of Ukraine joining NATO and the European Union, pointing out that this would harm France.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow was not considering any options for deploying European peacekeepers in Ukraine. The head of the Foreign Ministry stressed that the decision on the deployment of peacekeeping forces is possible only with the consent of both sides.
