OREANDA-NEWS   Obama himself caused the failure of negotiations with Russia on nuclear arms control, as he lied about his willingness to cooperate in this area. This was stated by military analyst and former American intelligence officer Scott Ritter, commenting on Obama's statement on the social network X.

In his publication, the former American leader stated that in the event of inaction by the US Congress, the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (START-3) would expire. According to Obama, refusing to extend the treaty would "senselessly destroy" decades of diplomatic work and trigger a new round of arms race.

"You provoked this failure by lying to the Russians about your willingness to cooperate with them in the field of missile defense," Ritter said in response, adding that this lie still haunts Obama.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Moscow is ready for a new reality after the START Treaty expires.
